Introduction
Portfolio is a Gantt representation of projects that have been associated by using the Connect to field in the editing form. It is used to visually represent progress and parent relationships of projects.
Configuring Portfolio Projects
To specify relationships between projects, you can do this in two ways:
- During project creation
- In the editing form for an existing project
In the choice field "Set as subproject to" in project connections, search the project list and select which project is the parent project for the current project. Do this for all projects that should be considered subprojects.
For the project to have a progress line in the Gantt view, it is necessary to specify the project's start date and end date, as well as check Show in Planner.
Open the portfolio overview on a separate screen and refresh to see the placement of your new association after saving. This will help visualize the structure and prevent creating too many levels.
Portfolio Overview
The portfolio overview is where you see the Gantt representation of the projects. It can be accessed from the quick buttons on the project hub.
When the overview loads, it will set the start interval to 5 weeks from yesterday's date, with no filters applied.
Projects will be listed regardless of whether the planned start/end dates are within the current date interval. Use the tool menu to get the desired project selection.
Tool Menu
The portfolio overview uses the same component as the project plan, but with some limitations regarding registration and item editing.
The tools you have available mainly revolve around setting the time interval and filtering your selection.
Forward/Backward Buttons
Jump 1 week (7 days) forward or backward in the current time interval.
Custom Date Range
Set a from-to date and define your own time interval.
Auto-zoom
Set the interval to the lowest planned start date and highest planned end date. This will show a view of all projects in the current filter in the same time interval.
Search
Filter the selection, as you type, by entering the project name of the projects you want to see.
Status Filter
Apply a filter on the project status value to see all projects with a specific status.
